Who writes visainfo.cc
Articles and guides on visainfo.cc are written and edited by our editorial team and published under the name visainfo.cc Editorial. We are a small independent team, not a government body and not registered migration agents. Where an article explains a rule, our aim is to state what the rule says and point you to the official source so you can confirm it yourself.
Articles carry the team byline rather than a personal one. If you need to reach the person responsible for a specific page, use the contact form and it will get to them.
Where our information comes from
Everything we publish about visa conditions is based on published official sources, primarily:
- The Department of Home Affairs, for visa subclasses, conditions and fees
- VEVO and your own visa grant notice, which are the only authoritative record of the conditions on your visa
- The Migration Act 1958 and the Migration Regulations 1994, where we describe legal consequences
Fees, processing times and policy details change. We link to the official page next to claims of that kind so you can check the current figure rather than trusting a number in an article.
Examples, case studies and names
Worked examples in our guides are illustrations, not real people. When you read that "Raj visits Australia twice" or "Ana works these shifts", the person is invented and the dates are chosen to make the arithmetic clear.
Some of our community articles draw on experiences shared publicly in expat forums and community groups. Where we do that, names and identifying details are always changed, and an account may combine more than one person's experience. We do this deliberately: the people involved did not write for us and did not agree to be named here, and their immigration circumstances are private.
No article on this site is written under a real contributor's personal name. Everything is published under the visainfo.cc Editorial byline, so a name inside an article is never a claim about who wrote it.
How the calculator works
The condition 8558 calculator is free, requires no account, and runs on the dates you enter. It counts every day you were in Australia, including both your arrival and departure days, and measures the total across every rolling 18 month window rather than a fixed calendar period. It then reports days used, days remaining against the 365 day limit, and the latest date you could leave without exceeding it.
The calculator cannot see your visa record. It applies the standard wording of condition 8558 to the dates you give it, so its result is a planning estimate, not confirmation that you are compliant.
Accuracy, updates and corrections
Every article shows the date it was published, and an updated date when it has been revised. When we learn that a rule, fee or process has changed, we update the affected article and its date rather than quietly editing it.
If you find something wrong or out of date, please tell us. We would rather correct an error quickly than leave it in place, and we will update the article date when we do.
What we do not do
- We do not give legal or migration advice, and nothing here is a substitute for it
- We do not lodge applications, review documents, or act for you with the Department
- We do not have access to your visa record, and cannot confirm your conditions
- We do not publish content about individual cases
For advice about your own situation, particularly anything involving a breach, a cancellation, a waiver or a refusal, speak to a registered migration agent.
How the site is funded
The calculator and every guide are free to use. The site is funded by advertising, which is labelled and kept separate from our content. Advertisers have no influence over what we write, and we do not accept payment to feature or recommend any service.
